What does “casilla” mean in English?
1.a small box on a form or document to be marked or ticked
2.one of the numbered or marked spaces on a board game or grid
Example sentences

How to use it
La casilla (noun, feminine) most commonly means the 'box' or 'field' to fill in or tick on an official form: marcar la casilla, dejar una casilla en blanco. It also names a square on a board game (avanzar una casilla) or, historically, a small rural house. Don't confuse with the idiom salirse de sus casillas (to lose one's temper), which uses the plural figuratively.
Common mistake
Casilla (box/square) is unrelated in everyday use to the idiom salirse de sus casillas (to fly off the handle, lose one's temper) — the idiom is fixed and figurative, not a literal reference to boxes on a form.
