How to use it
Donar means 'to donate' — giving formally to a charitable, public, or institutional cause. More formal than dar (give). Frame: donar [something] a [recipient] / para [purpose]. Common in contexts of charitable giving, blood donation, and institutional grants. The noun donación and the agent donor are equally common at B2.
Common mistake
Donar is formal — in casual giving you use dar or regalar. The frame is donar algo a alguien/para algo. The noun donación (donation) is a very high-frequency companion. Don't confuse donar with ceder (cede/transfer rights or property) — donar implies a gift with no return.
