What does “en” mean in English?
in / on / at
Example sentences
El libro está en la mesa.
The book is on the table.
Vivo en Madrid.
I live in Madrid.
Voy en tren.
I'm going by train.
How to use it
En means 'in', 'on', or 'at' — Spanish merges English's three location prepositions into one. Used for static location, transport, and many fixed expressions.
Common mistake
English splits in/on/at; Spanish uses en for all three. Don't try to translate word-by-word — go by intent ('inside / on top / at a place' all = en).
