How to use it
Conceder means 'to grant', 'to award', or 'to concede'. Structure: conceder algo a alguien (grant something to someone). Key collocations: conceder un permiso/licencia (grant a permit), conceder un premio (award a prize), conceder una entrevista (grant an interview), conceder importancia (attach importance to). Also means 'to concede' in argumentation: concedo que tienes razón en ese punto (I concede that you are right on that point). More formal than dar in all these contexts.
Common mistake
Conceder (formal grant) vs. dar (informal give). 'Le dio el permiso' is informal; 'le concedió el permiso' is what you find in legal documents and news reports. The academic use 'conceder que...' (to concede a point) is an important B2 discourse marker.
