How to use it
'Excepto' means except or with the exception of. It is a preposition that introduces an exception to a general statement. Synonyms: 'salvo', 'menos', 'a excepción de'. Unlike 'excepto que' which introduces a subjunctive clause (except that), bare 'excepto' takes a noun or pronoun.
Common mistake
Don't confuse 'excepto' (except — excluding) with 'a menos que' (unless — conditional) — they express different logical relationships.
