How to use it
La modificación (noun, feminine, from modificar) means 'modification' or 'amendment'. Common in formal and legal register: una modificación del contrato, introducir modificaciones, la modificación de la ley. More formal than the everyday cambio (change).
Common mistake
Modificación (formal: a structured, often official change) is more formal than cambio (change, general) — use modificación in legal, contractual or technical contexts, and cambio in everyday speech.
