What does “no” mean in English?
no
Example sentences
No, gracias.
No, thanks.
No quiero café.
I don't want coffee.
No voy al cine hoy.
I'm not going to the cinema today.
How to use it
No is both 'no' (the answer) and 'not' (the negator). When negating a verb, place no directly before the verb: no quiero, no como, no voy.
Common mistake
English splits 'no' (answer) and 'not' (negator); Spanish uses no for both. Don't say 'yo soy no estudiante' — say 'no soy estudiante'.
