no sé

verbBeginner

What does “no sé” mean in English?

  1. I don't know

Example sentences

  • —¿Cuántos años tiene ella? —No sé.

—How old is she? —I don't know.

  • No sé la respuesta.

    I don't know the answer.

  • No sé qué decir.

I don't know what to say.

How to use it

No sé means 'I don't know' (a fact / piece of information). From saber (to know facts/skills). The accent on sé distinguishes it from se (reflexive pronoun).

Common mistake

Always write the accent on sé (1sg of saber). Without it, se is the reflexive pronoun — completely different word.
