How to use it
Presentar means 'to introduce' (a person), 'to present' (something), or 'to submit'. At B2, three senses matter: (1) presentar a alguien (introduce someone to someone else: 'te presento a mi colega'); (2) presentar un informe/proyecto (present a report/project); (3) presentarse a (apply for/stand for: 'se presentó a las elecciones'). Structure for introductions: 'Te/le presento a + name'. Don't confuse with introducir (introduce — introduce a concept, not a person) or mostrar (show — make visible).
Common mistake
'Te presento a' (let me introduce you to) always includes the personal a. The reflexive presentarse a means to apply for or stand for: 'se presenta a la plaza' (she is applying for the position), 'se presentó a las elecciones' (she stood for election). Don't use *presentar para in this sense.
