How to use it
Recuperarse (de) means 'to recover (from)' — physically or otherwise. The preposition de introduces what you are recovering from: recuperarse de una lesión, recuperarse de un esfuerzo intenso. The verb is always reflexive in this sense. La recuperación is the noun (a recovery period, a recovery phase).
Common mistake
Recuperarse always requires the reflexive pronoun — *recupera without pronoun is wrong in this meaning. The preposition is de (recuperarse de), not from any other preposition. Do not confuse with recuperar (transitive: to retrieve, to recover a lost item), which does not take a reflexive pronoun.
