How to use it
Transferir means 'to transfer (money)' and is the formal verb used in banking contexts. The associated noun is transferencia bancaria. The preposition pattern is transferir dinero a una cuenta — never 'en'. In formal written Spanish it appears in instructions and correspondence: 'Transfiera el importe a la siguiente cuenta'. Do not confuse with trasladar (to transfer a person to another location) — transferir is exclusively for money and data in everyday B1 usage.
Common mistake
Do not confuse transferir (money/data) with trasladar (person/office move). Also: the noun is la transferencia, not 'el transferir'. Always use a: 'transferir a la cuenta', never 'en la cuenta'.
