How to use it
Medir means 'to measure'. Irregular: yo mido, él mide. Structure: medir + noun (measure something) or medir + adjective (measure dimensions: 'el edificio mide 30 metros'). At B2, it is used in scientific, quantitative, and metaphorical contexts: medir el impacto (measure the impact), medir el rendimiento (measure performance), medir las palabras (choose words carefully — be measured). The noun is la medida (measure/measurement).
Common mistake
Yo mido (irregular present — stem changes from e to i: mido, mides, mide, medimos, medís, miden). Don't confuse with meter (to put in/insert — different verb). Medir las palabras (idiom: to weigh your words = be careful about what you say) is an important B2 metaphorical expression.
