How to use it
El rango (noun, masculine) means 'range, rank, span' — the extent between upper and lower limits, or a position in a hierarchy. Core B2 collocations: dentro de un rango; rango de precios/valores; rango de edad; rango salarial; de alto rango (high-ranking). The adjective is ranqueado. Distinguish from escala (scale, proportion) and margen (margin). In statistics/science rango is a near-exact cognate.
Common mistake
Rango is fully productive as a cognate for 'range' in quantitative/scientific Spanish. However, 'home range' (ecology) is more often área de campeo. 'Out of range' = fuera del rango/alcance. In hierarchical senses, rango competes with categoría and nivel.
