How to use it
'Sujeto' at B2 has two key senses: (1) the grammatical subject of a sentence, and (2) a subject/participant in a study or experiment. In academic and scientific texts, sense 2 is dominant. The form 'sujeto a' (subject to) is also a common adjective meaning liable or bound by rules.
Common mistake
Don't confuse 'sujeto' (participant in a study or grammatical subject) with 'tema' (topic) — they are not interchangeable. 'El sujeto del estudio' is the person being studied, not the topic.
