How to use it
El/la editor/a (noun, common gender) means 'editor' (someone who edits texts) or 'publisher' (someone who publishes books/media). At B2 it is essential for media and cultural discourse. Key uses: editor/a de un periódico (newspaper editor); editor/a literario/a (literary editor); editor/a de vídeo (video editor). The publishing company is la editorial or la casa editorial. Distinguish from redactor/a (journalist/copy-writer) and periodista (journalist). Note the ambiguity: in Spain, editor often defaults to 'publisher'.
Common mistake
In Spain, editor often means publisher, not just editor (the company is la editorial). A 'text editor' (software) = editor de texto. Don't confuse with redactor (copy-writer/journalist) or corrector (proofreader). The feminine la editora is standard and fully accepted.
